This is an introductory level course on Asian Pacific American (APA) Studies, and will address both historical and contemporary issues of significance to the broad range of APA communities.
Until this becomes a regular course, it has to be listed as a special topics, which is why it is a 300-level, but in terms of the material, it is an INTRO level course! Topics include immigration, racism, gender/sexuality, activism, media representations, identity (“who is Asian Pacific American??”), relations with other racial and ethnic “minorities” and more! If you are interested but don’t have the necessary prerequisites, please contact me and I can add you. And feel free to send me ideas, articles, videos, websites, etc. that you think could be included in the class. Even if you are unable to take the course, please help publicize it!
